Minnesota, Illinois Trump Ballot Challenges Start

(St. Paul, MN) — Challenges to keep former President Trump off two states’ presidential ballots will be heard in court this week. Yesterday, a trial over a lawsuit filed by a group in Colorado began. They believe the former president should be prohibited from running in future elections under the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, an argument dismissed by Trump’s lawyer as anti-democratic and “weak.” The judge is expected to issue a ruling by Thanksgiving. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Supreme Court will hear oral arguments this week in a similar case. The Republican Party of Minnesota is asking the court to dismiss the case on First Amendment grounds.
