Twins Fall To Orioles; Gray Earns Third All-Star Nod

(Baltimore, MD) — The Twins missed out on a sweep of the Baltimore Orioles after a 2-1 loss at Camden Yards. Jhoan Duran gave up a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Orioles the lead, and Minnesota wasn’t able to get the tying run across in the next half-inning. Duran was charged with his third loss in relief. Willi Castro dove in Minnesota’s only run in the top of the fifth. The Twins remain in first-place in the AL Central at 42-and-43. Joe Ryan starts for Minnesota against Kansas City tonight.

In other team news, Sonny Gray is heading to the Mid-Summer Classic for the third time in his career. The Twins ace was one of nine starting pitchers selected to the American League roster yesterday. Gray is 4-and-2 with a 2.50 ERA in 93-and-two-thirds innings of work this season. In other club news, infielder Royce Lewis was placed on the ten-day injured list over the weekend.
