Land Purchase Regulation Bill Passes

(Bismarck, ND) — A bill that bans foreign governments from purchasing land in North Dakota has passed and been signed into law. House Bill 1135 was first introduced after concerns about the proposed construction of a Fufeng corn mill in Grand Forks were raised. Fufeng is a company that has ties to China, and the project was abandoned after it was determined to be a national security threat. The bill leaves one exception, as it does not include Canada as foreign government. It will go into affect in August.
