(Fargo, ND) — North Dakota’s primary seatbelt law goes into effect later this year. Governor Doug Burgum signed the bill into law this week after the legislature passed it. Under the primary law, police can stop a driver for not wearing a seatbelt and that driver can be fined 20 dollars for every passenger not wearing a safety belt. The primary seatbelt law goes into effect August 1st.
