Iowa House To Debate Changes To Child Labor Law, In-Person Caucusing

(Des Moines, IA) — The Iowa House set to debate nearly 30 bills today, including one proposal that lets 16 and 17 year olds work eight hour days, kids under 16 work up to six hours a day, and lets young people do jobs that they’re currently barred from. Another bill would require Iowans to be physically present to be a part of the state’s caucuses, and be registered to a party for at least 70 days before the event to participate. The proposal would block the Iowa Democratic Party’s plan to hold mail-in caucuses in 2024, as the party tries to stay first-in-the-nation.
