(Pierre, SD) — A new report is showing which South Dakota counties have the most excessive drinkers. The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute released its 2023 County Health Rankings and Roadmaps report earlier this year using data from 2020. As a state, South Dakota had the sixth-highest percentage of adults self-reporting excessive drinking at 21 percent, tying with Pennsylvania. Marshall County had the highest rate at 25 percent. Two counties, Todd and Oglala Lakota, reported the lowest excessive drinking rate at 17 percent.
