Convicted Murderer Denied Release

(Sioux Falls, SD) — A judge has denied a request to be released from the Sioux Falls man convicted of murdering the two-year-old son of former Minnesota Viking Adrian Peterson. Joseph Patterson had filed a request for Habeas corpus on claims of having received “ineffective legal counsel.” Patterson was convicted in 2015 for the beating death of Tyrese Ruffin and is serving a life sentence with no possibility of parole. The case was prosecuted by South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley.
